Clean and simple

Before I get into my card today,  I just wanted to say that I left a few replies to the comments on yesterdays posts, so please take a look if you can.

For todays card I have gone completely opposite to yesterdays creation.   I sat for a while and thought what could I do today that would be different;  I have, as you know, been trying to break the mould a bit as often as possible lately.  Well there is nothing wrong with a bit of Clean and Simple now and again, especially when you need a card for someone you are not too sure of or are unsure of their tastes.  So this is what I came up with

I pulled out my 12x12 papers and found this lovely floral shaped paper piece from My Minds Eye that I had purchased in a sale at the end of last year.  Straight away the white stitching brought to mind crisp white card and the card was almost made really wasn't it.  There is nothing Cleaner and Simpler than white, so all that was left to do was to find the right topper and cut a black fancy edge.

I still had Sue Wilson's latest die sets at the front of my box after using the border die for my layering technique recently.  So I pulled out another coordinating MME paper, some black Kanban cardstock and more of the white Kanban 300gsm card that I used for the base.  I cut the large Motif in black and patterned paper and the smaller motif in the white and patterned paper.  I layered them up this way as I didn't want too much of the black showing through.  I wanted the diecut topper to echo the colours of the paper without any of them, except white, taking over.   My aim was for the topper to be part of the paper strip and to only stand out a little.
I was going to wrap the card in the ribbon before tying the bow, but in the end I decided that I wanted as little 'fuss' on the card as possible. The single bow was the answer.  All in all I think it turned out pretty well.
Besides the initial reasons for the card, when I had finished creating it I also thought it would suit a male recipient (possibly without the bow) and would make a lovely thank you card or invitation too.
So what do you think, is this something you like to create or even receive yourself or is it too Clean and Simple for you?   I look forward to reading your comments and finding out more about your tastes;  I find it fascinating.  Do you know I have even set up my phone to receive notifications of your comments now.  I just love to read your views and see what you are all up to and this way no matter what I am busy doing, I can still check them and send quick emails if I have to now and again.  I am getting so 'technical' these days it is scary.   I even have a few apps now..... Go Linda ...........LOL!!
Thank you so much for stopping by,  I hope you all have a wonderful day.   Be happy and keep smiling.  Linda xx

  1. So pretty... I love clean and simple cards! Cards don't have to be elaborate all the time. The die you used is beautiful and I love the colors you chose. You are so talented and your work is always inspiring. Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us in blogland!

  2. Hi Linda,
I'm not a great fan of clean and simple, but your card is lovely. The reason I'm not a fan of clean and simple is I can't control myself from putting just a little more somewhere on the card. I know it's daft, but I will try and control myself one day. Look out for a clean and simple Jenny card. Thank you for taking the time in your busy life to reply to all our comments yesterday. I enjoyed reading it all. The weather here is dull and damp today, so I hope the sun is shinning on some of you where ever you are. Have a great crafty day everyone.
Lots if crafty love. Jenny L.

  3. Good morning Linda, I hope your comment alert doesn't wake you too early! What a good idea, I didn't know such a thing was even available, but then I can't work our CD player. I think I would say that clean and simple is one of my favourite styles. It's a bit like cooking, if I can do it all in one pot the happier I am. I have some scrap paper similar to the one you used, they were given to me and I've not done much with them as they are quite thick, but your card has given me the ideas for them. Yesterday you were talking about sanding your papers, I used a little white block that is supposed to be for nails, you can get them in Superdrug I think I get mine from the wholesaler, if you let me have your snail mail I'm happy to send you a couple, they do work rather well. I must say you sound hap hap, happy now your baby is back. Take care, best wishes, Lesley xx

  4. Gorgeous card Linda, a really stylish design and the colours are wonderful. The patterned paper works so well with the shapes created by the die cuts.
Hope you have a lovely day

  6. Hi Linda

Nothing wrong with clean and simple. It is is easy to get carried away someetimes.I agree that this would make a great male card, minus the bow. I do occasionally put a bow on a man's card, but usually using narrow ribbon and dark colours.

    Have a good day!

    love from Christine x

  7. Good morning Linda, I left you a comment late last night, and I've been back up early again, as still doing Wedding Favours!! Can't sleep much lately. Your card is another different one, just love the colours, the lime green and teal work so well together. I'm a fan of all your cards, I still don't know how you get all your inspiration. The clean lines of this one are just perfect, I really like the style of it. Weather not good here, damp and dismal, I'm off to find some bio degradable confetti now, daughter wants natural petals, but have to be a certain colour, oh the wonders of being a mum!! Happy crafting, take care Alison :)

  9. Hi Linda, oh yes we do love clean and simple as sometimes we, sorry I lol, can't see the wood from the trees so to speak and I just keep faffing (is that a word?) around. Always in need of male cards and this one fits the bill.

Another wet day here like many other places and the weather man said this will continue for another two weeks if not longer; hello winter! If you are lucky enough to see any sunshine girls get out there quick and absorb some vitamin D lol!

Love & hugs Christine H xx

  10. Hi Linda

This card is really effective and I love the colours.
It's another wet day here too and the forecast pretty grim-must be one of the most boring "summers" yet!
The only consolation being more crafting time.

    Take care

  14. Hi Linda - I am a convert to green since Sue Wilson did a couple of 'green' cards. This is so lovely yet simple as well - you always make such different cards. I had to do the ironing this morning then decided to catalogue my new dies this afternoon - didn't have many to do, just one set of Christmas dies and Sue's new ones. Unfortunately I ended up digressing and had a little play as well - oooh I enjoyed meself! These dies (above) are lovely to play with I must admit.

Sorry back to your card, I really like MME papers - they are top of my list and they have such nice colours and patterns. Glad you just used the little bow at the side of the sentiment - it really looks great.

    Hugs Sue P xx
